National Ready to lead trainings

Consumer Action and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute partner for student success.
Published: Wednesday, April 23, 2008

Consumer Action partnered with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), the nation’s premier Hispanic youth leadership development organization, to educate high school students on the importance of good money management skills.

Consumer Action’s Sol Carbonell led workshops at CHCI’s Ready to Lead regional trainings, hosted in Bloomfield, NJ, Washington, DC, and Los Angeles, CA. The workshops focused on understanding the value of credit, creating a budget, saving for college, and holding a job. Using materials and curriculum from the MoneyWi$e series, Carbonell provided hundreds of students and teachers with key tools to financial empowerment.

CHCI’s Ready to Lead training program educates students on preparing for college admission, creating and following a personal financial plan that secures their dreams of higher education, and attempts to motivate them to serve as leaders for their communities. For more information about the Ready to Lead program, visit the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute website.

Consumer Action's participation was funded by MoneyWi$e, a partnership between Consumer Action and Capital One.
