Help Desk FAQ

Contractors (licensing, hiring)

What should a construction contract contain?

A contract should include all the terms, conditions and policies of the project and the parties. It should mention the contractor's name, company name under which the license is filed, company's address, company's contact information, license or business license number (if applicable), detail of work, price, materials that will be used, any sort of permit needed for the work, deadline of when the work will be completed and any kind of cancellation rights, warranties and guarantees of work. Also, if there are any changes made to the contract, these should appear in the contract in clear, simple language. You should not rely on any verbal promises unless they also are written into the contract.

There are different types of construction contracts, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Learn more here
