Lithuania’s consumer protection authorities visit CA

Delegation of consumer advocates from Lithuania visit Consumer Action’s Los Angeles office.

Representatives from the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority of the Republic of LithuaniaOn March 10th, Feliksas Petrauskas, General Director of the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority of the Republic of Lithuania, and six members of his delegation visited Consumer Action’s Los Angeles office. Organized by Lexi Smith of the Constitution Rights Foundation, the goal of the visit was to learn more about Consumer Action’s mission and share best practices on consumer education, multilingual community outreach and issue-focused advocacy.

Community Outreach Manager Linda Williams provided an overview of Consumer Action’s efforts to help individuals assert their rights in the marketplace and promote economic justice for the benefit of all consumers.

Delegation members shared the pressing need to increase consumer education and advocacy efforts in Lithuania. They were actively engaged in a series of activities and educational games facilitated by Williams, including Consumer Action’s ID Theft Jeopardy Game. Williams also provided sample materials and training modules for the delegation to take back to Lithuania.

Impressed by the quality of Consumer Action’s multilingual materials and outstanding outreach and training team, representatives from Lithuania’s Consumer Rights Protection Authority left Los Angeles inspired and motivated to facilitate change and advance consumer education in their country.
