Fair housing lawsuit alleges racial discrimination

A national group of fair housing advocates has filed a complaint in federal court alleging that Deutsche Bank, Ocwen Financial Corp., and Altisource Inc. neglected bank-owned vacant homes in African American and Latino neighborhoods across the country.

Shanna Smith, president and CEO of the National Fair Housing Alliance, which is a party to the suit, says that the companies maintained foreclosed properties in white neighborhoods while in minority communities, houses were left unsecured with trash and even dead animals on their lawns.
